“In this blog post I offer some great styling tips & tricks on how to make your business space more attractive for social media. By fostering an environment that makes people want to ‘snap n’ share’, you’re not only giving your customers an opportunity to promote their own creative pursuits and business, but your own as well.”
As most of you know by now, Social Media has become an amazing way to market businesses, creating new possibilities for happy consumers to share their experiences, and in so doing – reach a larger audience.
Facebook is one of the most popular platforms, but over the last year or so Instagram has become a strong avenue for businesses to reach their ideal customer.
Today I’d like to discuss some ways in which you can create beautiful ‘spaces’ – offering more opportunities for your customers to take the ‘perfect shot’.
The best thing about your customers doing this, is not only that they are sharing photos of your business, but that you can share the same photos on your own Instagram page. Win win. (Psst, just remember to always credit the photo correctly - i.e. @instaname).
Let’s go over a few areas in your everyday environment where you can create inviting photo ops.
Tables are a photo op gold mine. Consider what’s at the heart of your brand. Think, are you Rustic? Modern? Clean? Textual? Then turn your table into a piece of art, or even hire a local artist with a style that reflects your own, and get them to create a custom art piece, or some little details on the surface of your table.
Have you bought essential items solely for their functionality or cost? The-times-are-a-changin’, and so these days a salt and pepper shaker can be valued for their aesthetic as well as their functionality. As always – go for function AND form. Think of items that are photo-worthy and that look great next to a meal or even an item that a business card can casually rest on.
Again, reassess the nature of your interiors - if you own a retro café, you could get some succulents, coloured vases, or glass salt and pepper shakers. Or you could go for a wood theme throughout. Collect items that are made from wood or have wooden lids, or any ‘woody piece’ that matches your table.
Even today where stylistically ‘less is more’, and clean walls are the way to go, you can still add some colour, gorgeous wallpaper, feature plants, or create a specky looking seating area along the wall.
All of these suggestions may just help create the perfect photo.
Once again, think about engaging a local artist with a style that’s similar to your own, so you can fill the walls with relevant, on-point, art.
Anyhoo, these are just some small things you can do to create a photo friendly atmosphere.
If it’s something you’re still unsure about, it’d be well worth your while to hire a professional interior designer/stylist to help maximise your space for promotional purposes. You may even consider running a photo comp that your customers can enter – in exchange for a voucher or a meal? Get creative.
There are so many opportunities – so don’t waste the chance to make your business grow!
